From Lake Alfred, FL – (February 22, 2012) In its 23rd year as a global leader in the sport of wakeboarding, the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) is now releasing the 2012 WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) schedule. 2012 will see long-term partners of the WWA play host to the highest caliber wakeboarders in the World. Brazil, Canada, and USA will be turned up-side-down and all-around by World Champion wakeboarders Dean Smith, Phil Soven, and Aaron Rathy. Many more top caliber riders will make it out to each stop, but there can only be one 2012 WBWS overall champion.

In 2011, the 4-time World Series champion, Phil Soven of the USA, was knocked off of his top spot by Australian phenomenon, Harley Clifford.
“I’m really excited for the (2012 WWA Wakeboard) World Series this year!” states 2011 Overall Champion, Harley Clifford, “I’m going to try and defend my title, plus all the venues we go to are perfect for wakeboarding and are always such a good time!”
Only time will tell if Clifford will be able to defend his 2011 overall championship; which will not be an easy task if Aaron Rathy, Dean Smith and Phil Soven have anything to do with it. One thing is for sure, the 2012 WBWS will be better than ever!
Ragga Wake Director, Bruno Dib talks about the WBWS-Brazil stop. “For this year’s WWA Wakeboard World Series stop in Brazil, we’re planning a few changes to make the event even better; we’ll be separating the WBWS event from the Brazilian Amateur stop, so this time only the Pro riders will compete in the event. The idea is to have more time for the Pro Men to do their show, and have more time also for other activities such as Roxy’s Stand up Paddle clinics, some pocket shows in Quiksilver’s lounge, DC’s BMX and Skateboard demos, and of course the well know sunset parties and bikini contest. The official website for the event will be online soon at www.raggawake.com with all the info about the event.”
“This year the WBWS-Brazil should be even more fun than last year’s.” states President of Associação Brasileira de Wakeboard (ABW), Mario Manzoli. “The wakeboard competition will be all about the Pro Men riders, but there will be also a lot of different stuff to do such as shows, demos, and parties; much like other real successful events like Wakestock Canada. I can’t wait!”
“Wakestock has truly proven that it reigns as one of the best wakeboard contests in the world.” WWA President Shannon Starling states, “The WWA is proud to have a strong bond with the largest wakeboard festival in the world.”
“Wakestock returns to Millenium Park in Collingwood, ON, Canada on August 10-12, 2012. As one Canada’s largest summer action sports festivals and the worlds largest wakeboard and wakeskate events, we’re proud to celebrate our 15th year.” editor of SBC Wakeboard Magazine and Wakestock Technical Director, Adam Levitt ” We’re also very excited to announce Wakestock is now an official qualifier for the Masters Waterski and Wakeboard Tournament, with the winner of the Pro Men’s Wakeboard and Pro Men’s Wakeskate receiving invites to the 2013 event.”
