What is a wake park and wake park wakeboarding?
Wake park wakeboarding, also known as cable wakeboarding, is a variation of traditional wakeboarding where the rider is pulled across the water not by a boat, but by an overhead cable system. This system runs along a course in a man-made lake or lagoon, often filled with various obstacles like ramps, sliders, and rails, similar to a snowboard park. The cable provides a consistent pull, allowing riders to practice and perform tricks repeatedly without having to wait for a boat to circle back. It’s a great way to learn and progress in the sport, as well as experience a different style of riding with its own unique challenges and opportunities for creativity.
What is wakeboarding?
Wakeboarding is a thrilling towed water sport where a rider, standing on a wakeboard (similar to a snowboard), is towed behind boat across its wake. The rider uses the wakes generated by the boat to jump and perform various tricks like flips, spins, and grabs. It’s a combination of water skiing, snowboarding, and surfing techniques. At the professional level, be on the lookout for ‘double flips’ where the rider does two flips in one jump or a 1080 degree spin!
