From Bangkok, Thailand (December 18, 2013) – After 6insane stops in 5 different countries, the 2013 WWA Wake Park World Series is now in the record books. The final stop, this past weekend, went down at the legendary Thai Wake Park in Bangkok, Thailand. With everything in perfect shape, the park was 100% ready for all of the big dogs to go as big as possible.

Riders Daniel Grant, San Im and Ken Tackmarn call Thai Wake Park home and they were ready to show the 2,000 spectators what’s up on the 13 staple features at TWP. One unreal new feature was also added to the park as a concrete base structure with two separate kickers leading to 3 different rails, the combo options were endless and the new feature proved to be both challenging and entertaining.

Screen Shot 2013-12-18 at 5.42.30 PMIn the traditional Pro Men’s division, 4 heats of 3 riders made up the semi finals, these were some of the most fun heats to watch all day as each rider was only pushing it for one single spot out of each heat to finals. In the end of the semis it was San Im (RSK), Julian Cohen (USA), Daniel Grant (THA) and Tom Fooshee (USA) to make up the finals.

Finals went down in perfect Thailand conditions, and being no stranger to the TWP, Daniel Grant took home the victory by linking tricks in a fashion that no other rider could accomplish. Comments from spectators were “Daniel just looks like you’re playing a video game and he’s your character.” Tom Fooshee and San Im also put together awesome runs, but just fell short to Grant.

Pro Men’s Features only division proved to be a heated battle from the qualifying round all the way to the podium. The semi finals were made up of 2 heats of 4 with Julian Cohen (USA), Matty Hasler (AUS), Steffen Vollert (GER) and Aaron Gunn (AUS) in heat 1 and Tom Fooshee (USA), JD Webb (USA), Chandler Powell (USA) and Daniel Grant (THA) in heat 2. To say the least, these heats were stacked. After each of the 9 minute jam format heats were finished, it was Steffen Vollert, Aaron Gunn, Daniel Grant and Tom Fooshee that would make it to the 4-man final.

Pro Features finals would be the highlighted event of the evening, riders ripping around one of the best wake parks in the world for 9 minutes while pushing themselves to perform the most progressive tricks possible, and sometimes impossible, is an event that will always be amazing to experience. With home park advantage, Daniel Grant was able to walk away with the victory, winning every single section of scoring, while Tom Fooshee, Aaron Gunn, and Steffen Vollert round out 2-4 respectfully.

Two amazing days of stratospheric-like riding topped off the 2013 season and Thai Wake Park will never be the same. The WWA would like to thank Thai Wake Park, the Singha Corporation and all sponsors and partners that made the event possible! See you in 2014!
