Shaun Murray Awarded the 2015 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna MVP
Lake Alfred, Fla. (October 21, 2015) – Shaun Murray was named the 2015 #HuskyMVP today after a great Wakeboard World Series season. This year the WWA partnered with Rockstar Energy and Husqvarna on an Athlete of the Year Award for the 2015 WBWS season. We introduced this signature award to the athletes on April 8th at our annual rider summit and golf tournament in Orlando, FL. Throughout the season the WWA has been tallying and keeping their eye on candidates throughout the social media world as well as their representation through the sport in their day to day lives as well as at events. The Husqvarna Rockstar Athlete of the Year Award was awarded to the athlete who is the best representative of the sport, an active member of their community, works as a role model to be a mentor for up and coming riders, and shows to be an overall asset to the industry.
Murray has shown the wakeboard community what it means to be a professional wakeboarder. “Wakeboarding can be easily made about oneself simply because of the nature of it. What I thought was great about the #HuskyMVP challenge was that it encouraged us to step outside of ourselves and realize that wakeboarding is not just about our moment behind the boat freeriding or in contests. Instead, It is about sharing moments with others and encouraging people to be active,” said Murray.
Murray would like to give a big thanks to the World Wakeboard Association, Sean Dishman, Chris Bischoff, the crew at Rockstar, Husqvarna, and everyone else involved in creating something different and fun, and not to mention an awesome motorcycle.
Husqvarna Motorcycles. Pioneering on two wheels since 1903.
Husqvarna Motorcycles are widely known and respected in the off-road world for a heritage of competition and numerous motocross and enduro world championships. Originally founded in Sweden in 1903, Husqvarna Motorcycles have been designed and manufactured in Mattighofen, Austria since 2013.
The Wakeboard World Series will offer the largest payout the sport has seen in its 26-year history with a total of $425,000 to be handed out to the men and women throughout the series. This increase is just one of many avenues that the WWA have stepped up to further legitimize wakeboarding along with an increased focus on attracting media, sponsors, and consumers. This year’s Wakeboard World Series is the largest World Series in recent years, making it the only true global wakeboard series. The 2015 Wakeboard World Series will travel to four rounds within the United States as well as Mexico, Brazil, Canada, a return to Japan, and for the first time, the WWA World Championships will be held in Portugal.About Rockstar
