LAKE ALFRED, Fla. (November 21, 2016) – Today, the World Wake Association (WWA) has announced region changes for the 2017 Malibu WWA Rider Experience event series. With a growing community of riders, this improved landscape offers a more consistent number of WWA participants in each region. Focusing on rider development and the growth of wake sports, the Malibu WWA Rider Experience is the premier Jr. Pro Men’s event series and includes all WWA amateur divisions. Exclusively pulled by Malibu’s world-class Wakesetter series boats, each regionally based event provides an opportunity for riders of all abilities to realize their full potential on the water.
The Malibu WWA Rider Experience celebrates the essence of wake, bringing riders and families together for three days of freeriding, clinics, and the WWA Regional Championships. Local riders get the chance to work with Malibu pro athletes and WWA officials to progress their riding and get a better understanding of what judges look for at wakeboarding competitions. The WWA Regional Championships take place on Saturday of each Rider Experience event weekend with athletes competing to qualify for a chance to represent their respective region at the WWA Wakeboard National Championships.
“Dedicated to the growth of all things wake, the WWA evaluates every aspect of our events each year to make them bigger and better for the riders. Streamlining our regional membership answers the demands of our core in balancing the number of competitors that feed into the National Championships,” stated Executive Director Corrie Dyer Wilson.
