Rookies and other new Malibu WWA Pro Card holders move up
From Lake Alfred, FL (May 20, 2013) – With three stops of the 2013 wakeboard season in the books, we’ve seen Harley Clifford take the lead after Nautique Wake Games, Phil Soven reclaim the lead at the WWA Wakeboard World Series in Brazil, then Phil Soven expand on his lead with the win at the first stop of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour this past weekend in Acworth, Georgia. Soven, who laid down an unbeatable pass this past weekend, expands his lead to 54 points above 2nd place, Harley Clifford. However, there are several opportunities for Harley and other riders to seek out the number 1 spot.
This past weekend, riders in the top 8 spots kept their previous ranking, while Shota Tezuka from Japan made some serious moves from 13th to 9th place. Jeff Langley (USA), holds the highest ranking for a “Pro Card qualifying” rider at the 22nd position. Langley was able to move 3 places up again with another solid finish. Current top-ranked rookie, Mike Dowdy (USA) was unable to compete in the 1st stop of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard tour, which left the door open for 2nd top-ranked rookie, Keenan Allen (USA), to narrow the rookie race point margin within a point of Dowdy.
The WWA Wakeboard World Rankings work on a three-year cumulative ranking that reward longevity, participation and expand on current WWA Wakeboard World Rankings and King of Wake Rankings. The next ranked event on the WWA Wakeboard World Rankings is stop 2 of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour in Mooresville, North Carolina June 1st. Keep your eyes posted to Twitter.com/TheWWA and Facebook.com/WorldWakeAssociation for up-to-date results from all major WWA contests.
Once a rider has competed in a qualifying event, they are ranked on the WWA World Rankings List. The WWA World Rankings work hand-in-hand with the Malibu Boats Pro Card. The top 25 riders on the Wakeboard World Rankings and the top 15 on the Wake Park World Rankings lists automatically retain their Malibu Boats WWA Pro Card for the following season.
