WACO, TX (August 9, 2020) – The 2020 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by GM Marine Engine Technology showcased an inspiring spectacle of athletic ability with wake’s greatest putting down peak performances behind the all-new Super Air Nautique G23. Throughout the week at BSR Cable Park the Nautique Wake Park and USA National Wakesurf Championships came together alongside the Wakeboard Nationals providing over 900 pulls during the five days of competition. The final day witnessed riders giving it their all in one final attempt to climb the leader board ahead of the final stop to the Nautique Wake Series and WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) later this month.
The Pro Wakeskate division opened up the day with reigning champion Reed Hansen claiming the 2020 title and a final score of 91.67, just ahead of Brian Grubb in second with 75.00 points. Thomas Herman rose to the top of the Jr. Pro division this season, sealing it off with a National title and a final score of 90.33. Herman had a stand up run behind the Super Air Nautique G23 opening things up with a wrapped nose grab KGB and going on to land a double backroll and a dum dum, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind he just claimed both the National and Nautique Wake Series titles. Jamie Huser put down another ridiculous performance of top progression with a backside 720 and a KGB 5 to score 79.67. Parker Swope placed third throwing a Pete Rose for a final score of 76.33.
Meagan Ethell stole the show of the Pro Women’s division, taking the win with a standup run throwing down a huge Moby Dick and wrapped switch H/S F/S 540 to score 91.33 points. Bec Gange joined the podium in second place throwing a clean nose grabbed scarecrow and a T/S B/S 180 for a score of 85.67, followed by Taylor McCullough in third with a final score of 78.67.
Ronix rider Nic Rapa came out on a top in the Pro Men’s division with an epic performance behind the Super Air Nautique G23. Rapa earned his winning score of 96.00 with a T/S double backroll to take him over the edge along with a multiple tech tricks and a solid blind Pete Rose to officially lock in his National title. In second, Nautique athlete Tony Iacconi gave it his all with two incredible passes that included an indy Moby Dick and a big double cab roll scoring 89.33. Guenther Oka rounded out the podium with a big wrapped backside 900 for a third-place finishing score of 86.67.
