Nation’s Top Amateurs Shine On Day One of 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships Presented by Rockstar

Acworth, GA (August 3, 2017) – The Legendary Super Air Nautique G23 greeted top amateurs from across the U.S. with perfect wakes to begin the 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy. Standouts in each division advanced through challenging semifinal rounds of competition to secure a spot in tomorrow’s final as their National title hopes all come down to this. The 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships is the third stop of the Nautique Wake Series; the only series that puts riders first.

“It’s always an exciting first day at the Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals with all of the amateurs riding their best behind the Super Air Nautique G23,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “These young guns are the future of our sport and they’re taking wakeboarding to the next level, and we’re glad to showcase that the G23 throws out the perfect wakes for amateur and pro riders alike.”

She has some stiff competition in Natalie Graham (AZ) who proved to be equally as impressive with a variety of tricks finishing second with 63.33. They will be joined in the final by Brianna Full (WI) who finished third with 53.33 and the always impressive Kira Lewis (NJ) who placed fourth with 49.00.

The Jr. Women’s division has been one of the most exciting of the season as we have seen each rider take their runs up a notch each contest. “I’m so stoked to win my heat today! I had a great run and all the girls killed it out there. The Super Air Nautique G23 was awesome as always, the conditions were awesome, and I can’t wait for tomorrow!” said Mary Morgan Howell.

In the Jr. Boys Beginner division Kien Shapiro (FL) had an amazing opening run with a heat-winning score of 71.67 showing that hard work pays off landing every 180 in the book and big grabs. Gavin Doody (TX) took the win in heat two, throwing down a massive melon cab 180 in his run for a score of 68.33.

With the press of a button, the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 showcased its versatility, increasing the wake’s shape and size for the Jr. Men as they pushed the envelope with big spins and mobes. Jonathon Wilkes (GA) took heat one throwing a massive switch back-mobe. Noah Wildman (IN) had a solid stand up ride in heat two hitting a moby dick and a wrapped KGB for a winning score of 90.00. In heat three, a stylish Joey Gallagher (FL) threw a cab 540 and KGB for the win on his way to tomorrow’s final showdown scoring 81.60.

All eyes were on the water for the Veterans division with Josh Wildman (IN) throwing down T/S and B/S backrolls and a T/S 540, winning the heat one with a score of 85.00 just ahead of Ryan Christopherson (WI) is second with 78.33 who looked better than ever behind the industry-leading Super Air Nautique G23. Taking the heat two win, Christopher Full (WI) scored 80.00 with a krypt and a smooth B/S 180 followed by Johnny Wofford in second with 53.33 with a solid backroll.

“The Nautique WWA National Wakeboard Championships is the largest event of the season with riders from across the U.S. competing for their chance at a National title.
