Georgia to Hold 2016 Nautique WWA U.S. Wakeboard National Championship at Lake Allatoona

LAKE ALFRED, Fla. (July 7, 2016) – Today, the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) announced that the 2016 Nautique WWA U.S. Wakeboard National Championship presented by Rockstar will be held in Acworth, Georgia at Lake Allatoona on July 27-30. In order to earn their spot in the widely popular National Championship, riders throughout the continental United States have qualified through their WWA Regional Championships. The Dallas Landing Park, which overlooks the gorgeous 82-acre lake, will serve as the battlefield for the sport’s brightest stars and the fourth stop of the Nautique Wake Series behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23. Additionally, the fourth round of the Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) is set to run over the course of the weekend.

“This is an awesome location to host the highly prestigious 2016 Nautique WWA U.S. National Championship,” said Shannon Starling, WWA President. “Lake Allatoona brings out the best for everyone who is on hand throughout the weekend, whether it be the riders competing on the water or fans hanging out along the shorelines enjoying the action.”

Multiple time wakeboard boat of the year, the Super Air Nautique G23 continues to play a prominent role as athletes push wakeboarding’s progression to the next level, and it will be the exclusive towboat pulling both professional and amateur riders throughout the action-packed weekend. The Nautique Wake Series is the only event series in 2016 that gives riders of all ages, gender and skill level the opportunity to compete at an elite level. Each event will feature all amateur divisions, Jr. Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate, and Pro Men. Amateur qualifying will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, running into their Finals on Thursday and Friday. All Pro divisions will qualify on Saturday, serving as a preview for the final rounds of competition on Saturday.

“The Nautique WWA U.S. Wakeboard National Championship is without a doubt going to be an epic event,” said Team Nautique Rider Mike Dowdy. “It’s awesome that amateurs are given the opportunity to perform on the same first-class platform as the pro’s. I’m excited to be competing against such a stacked lineup of riders behind the Super Air Nautique G23 for a chance to be crowned 2016 National Champion.”
Registration is now open for West and South regional participants, while Central opens on July 10th and East July 17th. The West and South are also open for any final remaining spots, with Central to open on July 15th and East July 20th should any spots be available for their specific regions.
