Amateur Traditional Qualifying Kicks Off 2017 Nautique WWA Wake Park National Championships Presented by Rockstar

Waco, TX (July 28, 2017) – Days of anticipation and preparation gave way to intense competition for day one of the 2017 Nautique WWA National Championships! Friends, family, and wake park teams from across the nation have set up camp at BSR Cable Park for the week to cheer on the best riders in the U.S.  Amateur qualifying rounds set the pace for what’s certain to be an amazing weekend of riding with beautiful weather on the horizon.
Five divisions of Traditional Wake Park debuted, with three rounds of exciting competition. Over 30 wake parks from all across North America were represented with riders competing for both individual national titles and team overall Points Chase titles.

The Amateur Wakeskate qualifying rounds took the top two riders from each heat through to the semifinals along with two from the LCQ. Hayden Chambless took the semifinal heat one win with 93.50 to move to the final round with Gavin Stuckey, and Outler Morgan. The heat two top spot went to Ian Smith scoring 99.00. Also moving through to the final in second place is Trent Stuckey along with Barrett Swope who finished third.

The top three riders from each heat advanced to the semifinals in the Beginner Wakeboard division with five riders earning their spot through in the LCQ. In semifinal heat one, Ian Dinger took the top spot with a score of 85.00 moving on to the final along with Kimberly Wysocki and Cameron Flinkingshelt. Heat two saw Zachary Jones take the top score of 97.00 ahead of CJ Scott and Amanda Sadowski who will join him in the final round.

In the Novice Wakeboard division, two riders from each heat advanced to the semifinals along with four riders from the LCQ. Taking today’s Qualifying heat wins were T.J. Lung, Andrew Hopkins, Jackie Augustine, Kaiden Powell,  and Trenton Jardine.

The Intermediate Wakeboard division advanced the top two from each heat and seven riders out of the LCQ. Qualifying heat wins went to Pierce Bishop, Jesse Aponte, Jorge Garizurieta, Barrett Swope, Dryver Rowell, Jack Portman, and Bryce Thompson.

The top two riders from each Qualifying round and four from the LCQ made it through to the semifinals in the Advanced division. Winning their Qualifying heats were Brett Powell, Gavin Stuckey, Fynn Bullock, Trent Stuckey, and Riley Hackworth.

Tomorrow’s semifinal rounds will go from 18 riders to a six person final.

The second day of the Nautique WWA  Wake Park National Championships begins at 8:30 a.m. Central on Friday, July 28th with Pro Wakeboard qualifying.
