AMATEUR DIVISION SEMIFINALS DETERMINED AT THE NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS PRESENTED BY GM MARINE

Winter Haven, FL (July 29, 2021) – Day two saw 10 WWA amateur divisions hit the water with eager competitors looking to secure a spot in the finals behind the Super Air Nautique G23 powered by GM’s world-class powertrains. Riders in each amateur division qualified to represent the U.S. at the 2021 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships next month on August 25th – 28th at Callaway Gardens.

The Jr. Girl’s division kicked off a very competitive day of wakeboarding with Stella Dickerson (GA) throwing down heelside and toeside wake jumps , earning a second place  score of pf 64, finishing one point behing Zoey Carroll (NC) who took the top spot with a 65. In the Boy’s Beginner division, Kyle Bendele from TX and Jayden Bennett from FL earned the top two spots with a variety of switch and regular 180s, while Shae Cooper (AL) and Chloe Moore (FL) stood out among the Girl’s Beginner division with several big tricks of their own.

And making their historic debut to the Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships, the Jr. Pro Women’s division took to water for the very time as a brand new division.  With 10 female riders showcasing their expert-level skills at such young ages, the WWA was eager to start this exciting division to help groom the future Pro Women of tomorrow.  Setting the pace for the young women was twelve year old Kitt Smith from Branson, Missouri, as she executed a heelside roll to revert and a scarecrow that helped her lock-in her spot in the finals.   But it was fifteen year old Kira Lewis from Clermont, FL who raised everyone’s eyebrows, as she landed a number of various inverts including the wrapped KGB that made herself known to the Pro Women who she will undoubtedly join in the coming years.

“The Jr. Pro Women’s division is super competitive which makes it fun to watch, said WWA Executive Director Corrie Wilson “This weekend could be anyone’s chance to claim a National title, so I look forward to watching the finals to see how it all plays out!”
