THE WORLD WAKE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW DATES FOR 2019 NAUTIQUE WWA WAKEBOARD AND WAKE PARK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

March 27, 2019 –The World Wake Association (The WWA) and Nautique Boats have announced new dates for the 2019 Nautique WWA Wakeboard and Wake Park World Championships. Hosted at the Mayan Water Complex in Playa del Carmen, Mexico the Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships will join the WWA Wake Park World Championships presented by Nautique for the biggest global event in wake history on October 17th – 20th. The event dates have been pushed back one week from the originally released dates in an effort to ensure athletes are also able to participate in the ANOC World Beach Games taking place October 9th – 15th in San Diego, CA.

“The decision to push the Nautique WWA Wakeboard and Wake Park World Championships back one week from the original dates made sense to ensure the athletes are able to compete in both events if they wish. Our title sponsor, Nautique Boats was a part of this decision and agreed in making this opportunity work for the athletes around the world,” said WWA President Shannon Starling. “The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) is working to ensure the Games in San Diego happen as seamlessly as possible, and together our goal was to support the athletes. As we celebrate 30 years of excellence in wake, this anniversary year is a time for inclusion and recognition of the many faces who have contributed to promoting and growing competitive wake sports around the world. We plan to continue carrying this tradition in all future and current decisions.”

“We would like to thank the World Wake Association (The WWA) and Nautique Boats for agreeing to reschedule the 2019 Nautique WWA Wakeboard and Wake Park World Championships so the world’s top riders can compete in both the 1st ANOC World Beach Games, an event recognized by their respective National Olympic Committees, and the WWA’s World Championships.  Hopefully, both the IWWF and WWA will be able to continue working together in the near future.“ said IWWF President Jose Antonio Perez Priego.
