Toronto, Ontario, Canada (August 24, 2017) – The best amateur riders in the world took to the water behind the industry-leading Super Air Nautique G23 today to kick off the 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships. At the heart of the annual Canadian National Exhibition held in Toronto, amateur and professional wakeboard athletes representing over 25 countries will compete throughout the week in hopes of capturing the 2017 world title. The 2017 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships is the fourth and final stop of the Nautique Wake Series; the only series that puts riders first.
“Every rider in the world hopes to one day win the World Championships,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. “We are excited to return to Toronto waterfront with our award-winning Nautique G23 to pull the best wakeboarders from across the globe and make those dreams come true.”
Today’s semifinal rounds set the bar high, with amazing riding from each competitor as the legendary Super Air Nautique G23 provided perfect wakes for the world’s best amateur wakeboard athletes. Starting off the day with the Men’s 2 division Chris Sinkic (CDN) had an amazing opening run with a heat-winning score of 73.33 showing his style and experience, landing a crowmobe and a F/S 720. Cameron Steiner (USA) took second, throwing down a massive krypt in his run for a score of 56.67.
The Veteran Women’s division saw riders put on their best performances of the season. Joy Manning (USA) landed a big tantrum, putting her on top with a heat winning score of 78.33. Natalie Graham (USA) scored 51.67 in second with a mixture of switch and regular tricks heading into tomorrow’s final.
The Boys Beginner division was on fire today with Toby Jacobsen (USA) landing a big B/S 180 and to take the top score with 76.67 points. Dylan Spain (USA) placed second scoring 66.67 followed by Ethan Zellenrath (CDN) in third with 60.33.
Hunter Smith (CDN) laid down a shove-it and a body varial in the Amateur Wakeskate division, earning the top score of the day with 68.33. He has some stiff competition in Carter Newton (CDN) who proved to be impressive off the wake finishing second with 46.67. The talented Dayle Cartwright (USA) threw his hat in the wakeskate mix finishing third with 26.67.

The always exciting Jr. Women’s division charged behind the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 with its versatile wakes perfectly set for the talented field of international riders. Aliza Piana (ITA) took heat one with 76.67 throwing a tantrum and a switch crow followed by Mackayla Petrie (CDN) in second with 68.33. In heat two, the stylish Mary Morgan Howell (USA) threw a wrapped T/S B/S 360 for the win scoring 83.33 on her way to tomorrow’s final showdown. Charli Shore (AUS) placed second in the heat with 78.67 landing a T/S 540 and a solid T/S indy front roll.
“The Super Air Nautique G23 felt great out there today and all the girls were killing it! I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s final and hope I can put together a stand up pass to win the World title!” said Mary Morgan Howell.
