60TH NAUTIQUE MASTERS SEES UNSTOPPABLE PERFORMANCES FROM WAKEBOARDING’S TOP ATHLETES

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (May 25, 2019) – Wakeboarding’s top professional athletes arrived at the legendary Callaway Gardens to officially kick off the 60thNautique Masters Waterski & Wakeboard Tournament presented by GM Marine Engine Technology. Robin Lake provided great conditions, paired with perfect temperatures as the world’s best riders amazed the crowd during every pass. The 6X Wakeboard Boat of the Year, the Super Air Nautique G23, transformed its wake to perfection giving riders the ability to perform at the top of their game. 

5X Nautique Masters Wakeboard Champion, Dallas Friday (USA) got things going in the Pro Women’s division stomping a wrapped KGB and a bat wing for a semifinal first place finish of 71.33. Nautique athlete Erika Lang (USA) will join Dallas in Sunday’s final round securing her second place score of 68.33 with her proper H/S front flip.  Heat two saw Meagan Ethell (USA) throw down a variety of technical tricks and spins earning her spot in the finals with a score of 83.33, followed by Tarah Mikacich (USA) with score of 78.67 and advancing to the finals. 

“I’m super excited to have made the finals in both Wakeboard and Trick skiing here at the Nautique Masters. It’s always so surreal when I’m able to land in the finals in both disciplines,” commented Nautique athlete Erika Lang. “The conditions here in Callaway are so perfect and the wake on the Super Air Nautique G23 is insane. All of the girls rode awesome today and the finals is definitely something you’re not going to want to miss!”

Nic Rapa (AUS) dominated the Pro Men’s heat one sticking a mute double cab roll and an indy double tantrum to take the win in heat one with a score of 81.67. Equally dominating the pack and earning his second place finish, Mike Dowdy (USA) threw his signature ‘Dowdy underflip 720’ for a score of 75.67. The pressure was on in heat two with Nautique athlete Cory Teunissen (AUS) laying down a set of technical passes with a huge 1080 for a first place score of 93.00. Moving on to the final round with Teunissen, Harley Clifford (AUS) showed the crowd his well-known style with a ginormous tail grab KGB to start off his run, closing out with a score of 90.33.  

Earlier in the weekend the crowds of Callaway Gardens witnessed some incredible performances from the Junior Wakeboard divisions. The Jr. Women division reopened this year providing the incredible opportunity for young girls to compete on the legendary waters of Robin Lake. Mackenzie McCarthy (AUS) came away with the win throwing a clean T/S 540 for a final score of 85.00. Shannon Sahinbas (USA) followed up in second with a wrapped melan T/S B/S 360 for 77.00 points, followed by Elle Christensen (USA) in third with a score of 67.00.

The Jr. Pro Men were on fire behind the industry-leading Super Air Nautique G23 during Friday’s final rounds. Fynn Bullock-Womble (USA) stomped a huge H/S B/S 720 and a solid T/S 900 for the win to score 89.00. Bryce Grey (AUS) showed his signature style with a nose grab skeezer and a pete rose scoring 81.33, followed by Josh Swift (AUS) rounding out the podium with a score of 74.67.

The final day of the 60thNautique Masters Waterski & Wakeboard Tournament presented by GM Marine Engine Technology begins at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday, May 26th with the professional wakeboard final rounds hitting the water at 1:15 p.m. EDT.  For those watching at home be sure to tune in to masterswaterski.comto watch the final rounds of action!
